This week I am delighted to introduce Sandra Geise in my interview. Sandra is an abstract painter who brings her emotions to the canvas. Magenta is one of her favourite colours. For Sandra, it stands for femininity and strength.
Sandra's basic attitude is positive and this can also be seen in her paintings. Her aim is to spread joy and touch people emotionally with her art.
Introduction
What is your name?
I am Sandra Geise.
Where do you live?
I live and work in the beautiful Lower Rhine region.
What kind of art/creativity do you mainly do? (Painting, sculpture, photography, digital design, etc.)
I mainly paint on paper and canvas and mostly abstract.
Digital art with the Proceate programme and Adobe Fresco are also included
Have you had any formal training, or are you self-taught?
From 2013 to 2016, I completed a part-time training programme at the Magenta Studio for Painting in Dinslaken. These were years of artistic study, studio studies for painting.
I also took many courses with various artists. There was also a trial semester in Essen at the Freie Akademie der Bildenden Künste. Then I was able to work for a week with the artist Bernhard Lokai in his studio in Düsseldorf.
Where can people see your work? Do you have a website or social media profiles you would like to share?
I am very happy to exhibit offline. Direct contact with my work is simply the best way. I also enjoy talking to viewers about my pictures.

You Are Creative. Why?
How Did You Get Into Art? Where Did Your Creative Journey Begin?
Art is my vocation and my daily meditation. I came to painting in 2010, during a very difficult phase of my life. The journey began with figurative paintings. In 2013 I came to non-representational painting.
What Inspires You?
I am inspired by art, music, nature, travelling and also conversations with other people. I always find inspiration at the Museum der Moderne in Salzburg (online and offline). The city of Salzburg is full of inspiration for me.
Listening to classical music and making music myself, currently my favourite thing to do is play the ukulele and sing.
My favourite place to recharge my batteries is in the forest.
I often have conversations online in various formats.
Are There Certain Artists Or Styles That Influence You?
I was influenced by Bernd Mechler and Bernhard Lokai from Düsseldorf. It was a great pleasure to work with them and learn from them.
What does your creative process look like?
What are your favourite materials and tools to use and why?
I mainly paint non-representationally on paper or on canvas. I usually mix my own colours.
I work with pigments, which I mix with a suitable binder to make watercolour or acrylic paint. I often make additions with charcoal, pencil, ink or pens.
Is There A Particular Project Or Work That Is Important To You?
A few years ago, I had the opportunity to exhibit three of my works in Agen, France. That was and is my greatest success and I also have very fond memories of my time in Agen. Two works have found a new home in Agen.
What Was The Biggest Challenge You Faced As An Artist?
That's a challenge that I haven't managed yet. Unfortunately. I've tried many times but failed. That's also part of it. What is it? Building a homepage for my beloved art ...
How Important Is It For You To Connect And Interact With Other Artists And Creatives?
The exchange with other artists and viewers is very important to me.
What Does Art Mean To You? What Role Does It Play In Your Life?
It is my vocation. I make art every day.

For me, art is the expression of human existence.

I have a vision:
My inner voice asks me to explain myself, but I often don't have the words. I then express myself in my painting. That is my mission in life.
